If you haven’t checked out the first season of The Wheel of Time adaptation yet because you don’t have Prime Video, then I have some good news for you. The season, along with a bunch of other Amazon originals, will be available to watch for free at some point in the near future.
Today, Amazon announced that starting on May 26, 2023, they’ll be making Amazon Originals available on Freevee, the company’s free, ad-supported streaming service. The first show to get the treatment will be the series The Summer I Turned Pretty, with the first three episodes. Amazon has teased, however, that the entire first season of The Wheel of Time will become available on Freevee at some point in the lead up to Season Two of the show, which is supposed to premiere on Prime Video sometime later this year.
That’s right: If you’re willing to sit through some commercials, you’ll soon be able to watch all eight episodes of the show (or rewatch if your Prime Video subscription has gone away since the season’s original release in late 2021). When exactly you’ll be able to do so has yet to be announced, but since showrunner Rafe Judkins has teased that the show will come out at some point later in 2023, it will most likely be in the next few months.
The Wheel of Time isn’t the only show that will become available on Freevee at some point. Starting on May 26, the first three episodes from the adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang’s Paper Girls will also be on the ad-supported site with a questionable name, along with the first three episodes of A League of Their Own, and The Tick. [ed note: The Tick, AKA the greatest superhero related show of all time.] You can also check out the full seasons of Upload and the sci-fi mystery, The Vast of Night at that time. You can see what else is available when by checking out Freevee here.
